These anthuriums are out of this world! Are they real?

If the anthuriums are natural, how do you get them to glow like that?

We use a patented process and formula to enhance the natural beauty of our anthuriums. Every single Haus of Stems anthurium is hand-picked and hand-painted to ensure perfection.

It’s winter! Can I still purchase your anthuriums?

Absolutely! We do our very best to insulate each shipment against the elements.

Do pictures fully represent the colors of your anthurium?

Our anthuriums are iridescent and are impacted by the color and light around them. For example, fan favorite Abalone may look more icy blue in certain lighting and more pearlized in others. Additionally, each base flower has its own unique, naturally occurring variations which may impact their final look.

Are my stems compostable?

We currently use commercial grade paint on our leaves. The spadix and stem of your anthurium are compostable; the painted leaf is not.

Is the paint toxic?

No, but while our anthuriums look yummy enough to eat, they are not safe for (animal or human) consumption.

Do they bleed?

No, our paint is permanent and will not bleed or transfer.

Do they react to sunlight?

Sunlight will not damage the color or finish of our stems but it will shorten their lifespan.

Do the anthuriums have a scent?

Not that we can tell. But ask your cat or dog what they think.

Is there a way to dry or preserve my anthurium?

We value the fleeting nature of our living art, however it is possible to extend the life of our anthurium to infinity and beyond. Removing your stems from water and laying them flat to dry in a cool dark place and the use of silica sand are two ways to preserve them.

Are these flowers real?

Yes! Haus of Stems does not use fake flowers, ever. Every stem we offer, whether it be fresh cut or preserved, was once a living, breathing botanical.

How are your preserved botanicals made?

Our live, fresh blooms are hand-painted using a patented process and formula. They are then placed in to a dehydration chamber to reduce their moisture content. Depending on the botanical, this process can take mere weeks or many months. After the botanical has been thoroughly dehydrated, our team begins the permanent preservation process. This process includes a custom blended resin formula, lots of expertise, patience and time. The result is a beautifully preserved piece of botanical art, that looks alive and will ‘live’ on forever.

Are they UV proof?

All of our preserved botanicals are coated with a UV protectant.

Are they waterproof?

Our preserved botanicals are water resistant. We have not yet sent them to scuba school. Submerge at your own risk.

What if I need to clean my preserved botanical?

If you have a gentle touch, you may use a damp microfiber cloth to clean your preserved botanicals. Most of our preserved botanicals are encased in a frame and should not require cleaning.

What are your frames made of?

Solid wood. Some of our framed art features a glass front while others feature are acrylic. This information is listed on each products page.

How can I display my framed botanicals?

Our frames feature both a hook and a stand, suitable for hanging or displaying on a flat surface.
